The challenge
In many city Public Works departments, work still comes in by phone and gets passed along by phone. Nobody can say for sure what’s open, who has it, or whether it got done, and an emergency depends on someone remembering to follow up.
General maintenance tools weren’t designed around how a city dispatch desk runs. The aim was to fix that one loop first: every job recorded, assigned, done with proof, and verified.

What we did
We designed Workridge around the people who use it. Crews work from their phones: they see their jobs, report problems with a photo and a map location, and can’t finish a job without photo proof. Dispatch reviews and assigns work from a live board. Supervisors check finished work and verify it, or send it back with a reason. The director sees on-time rates, overdue work and crew workload at a glance.
Every priority has a clear target, from 30 minutes on site for an emergency to two weeks for low priority work. If nobody has started an emergency in time, the supervisor is alerted, then the director. Each city’s data is kept separate, and the city can download all of it whenever it wants.
Highlights
- Phone screens for crews, with photo proof required to finish a job
- A live dispatch board for reviewing, assigning and searching work
- Automatic emergency escalation to the supervisor, then the director
- Dashboard, map and a printable monthly report for leadership
- Two-step sign-in, and one-click export of all the city’s data

The result
Workridge is live as a working demo with sample data. In a full rehearsal on the live system, an emergency that nobody had started alerted the supervisor right at the 30-minute deadline, and the director 15 minutes later, automatically.
